چکیده

Lateral escape tectonics mediated by strike-slip fault zones are an efficient mechanism of rock deformation in the continental crust collision zones. The Borborema shear zone system, which shows dimensions comparable to Cenozoic extrusion Indochina, defines a lateral setting Brasilano orogeny Northeastern Brazil. In this paper, timing high-grade metamorphism and compositions terranes involved were investigated. U-Pb zircon ages Sm-Nd whole-rock isotopic indicate that 2.80 – 2.35 Ga sequences mainly include juvenile material, whereas zircons from synkinematic migmatites partial melting occurred Late Ediacaran (ca. 565 Ma). Conservation of geosites as a tool to protect geoheritage: the inventory of Ceará Central Domain, Borborema Province - NE/Brazil.

The Ceará Central Domain, in the northern Borborema Province/NE Brazil, encompasses important geological records (geosites) which allow understanding a relevant period of the Earth's evolution, mainly associated to Neoproterozoic Brazilian/Pan-African Cycle and West Gondwana amalgamation, besides Neoarchean to Ordovician records. The presented geoheritage inventory aims to characterise the geos...

Airborne Geophysical and Tectonics of the Ceará Central Domain, Eastern Region of the Santa Quitéria Magmatic Arc, Borborema Province, Ne Brazil

The airborne geophysical data gamma-spectrometric and magnetic from Itatira Project (1977) was carried out, in the central region of the State of the Ceará, Brazil. Their processing produced products useful to indirectly identify regional geologic features. The verification and applicability of this approach was tested in a pilot-area whose limits are within the Umirim and Canindé topographic s...

Fabric Development , Shear Zone Formation , and the Possibility of Plate Tectonics on Earth

The Earth stands out in the solar system as the only planet with plate tectonics. This peculiarity is due not only to strong internal heating but also a lithosphere rheology characterized by brittle failure and localization, as a comparison with Venus clearly show. Localization in the ductile regime are manifested on Earth by ductile shear zones, which have proven difficult to explain theoretic...

Lateral zone of cell-cell adhesion as the major fluid shear stress-related signal transduction site.

It has been proposed previously that actin filaments and cell adhesion sites are involved in mechanosignal transduction. In this study, we present certain morphological evidence that supports this hypothesis. The 3D disposition of actin filaments and phosphotyrosine-containing proteins in endothelial cells in situ was analyzed by using confocal microscopy and image reconstruction techniques. Su...

Deep-seated fragmentation, transport of breccia dikes and emplacement: An example from the Borborema province, northeastern Brazil

Three syenite dike sets, named the Santa Cruz dikes, are coeval with the 627 ± 13 Ma old porphyritic calc-alkalic Princesa Izabel granitoid, northeastern Brazil. Dike set 1 is up to 1.5 m wide, strike 030 e040 Az, roughly parallel to the regional foliation. Dike set 2 strikes 120 e130 Az and consists of xenolith-bearing syenites and is roughly parallel to dike set 3, which is up to 1.5 m wide a...
